Recruitment

Recruitment support that works around your business

Finding the right person for your business can take a lot of time and energy. Writing adverts, reviewing CV’s, coordinating interviews and managing candidates all demand attention when you’re already focused on running your business.

At Starfish People Recruitment, we can take care of as much or as little of the recruitment process as you need. We work closely with you to understand not only the skills and experience required for the role, but also the type of person who will thrive within your team and fit your culture and values. Where appropriate, we can also use DISC profiling to explore behavioural styles, strengths and motivations.

We look beyond CV’s to find candidates who are genuinely suited to your organisation. If the right person isn’t already within our network, we’ll proactively reach out and start conversations with suitable candidates. Throughout the process, we ensure a professional and positive experience for everyone involved, helping your business make a great impression while treating candidates with respect.

A more cost-effective way to recruit

Many businesses assume recruitment has to come with a hefty agency fee.

In fact, one of our clients came to us after paying almost £6,000 to recruit a single employee.  For a very similar role, we helped another business achieve the same outcome for under £1,000.

The difference? Flexibility.

Rather than charging a large, fixed fee, we can provide recruitment support tailored to your requirements, allowing you to pay only for the services you need.

We can support you with:

  • Job descriptions and role profiles
  • Vacancy advertising
  • Candidate sourcing
  • Application screening and CV sifting
  • First-stage interviews
  • Scored interview questions and assessment criteria
  • Written candidate feedback
  • Offer management and onboarding support
  • Probation check-ins and ongoing support

You stay in control of the final hiring decision while benefiting from experienced recruitment support at a fraction of the traditional cost.

Paid £6,000 to fill one role? You’re not alone.

Flexible pricing that works for your business

The industry standard is to charge fees of 20-25% of annual salary. While percentage-based recruitment can work well in some situations, it can also represent a significant investment.

We understand that every business has different preferences, budgets and recruitment needs. That’s why we offer:

Hourly recruitment support

Perfect for businesses that want flexibility and cost control. You pay only for the support you need, whether that’s writing an advert, screening applicants or conducting first-stage interviews.

Competitive percentage-based fees

For clients who prefer a traditional recruitment model, we offer competitive percentage-based pricing without the eye-watering costs often associated with larger agencies.

Tailored recruitment packages

No two businesses are the same, which is why our recruitment support is flexible and tailored to you. For businesses requiring a more bespoke solution, we can create a recruitment package designed specifically around your requirements, timescales and budget.

Whether you need end-to-end recruitment support or help with just one part of the recruitment process, our aim is simple: to provide a practical, cost-effective solution that helps you find the right person for your business.

Take a look below at some of the ways we can support your recruitment journey..

Recruitment advertising

No matter what your sector or job role requirements are, Starfish People Recruitment can create a job advert for you. This will not only comply with employment legislation but will also include keywords identified by DISC profiling (explained above) to attract the most suitable candidates for your job role. Then, we can advise on the best places and platforms for you to advertise your job vacancies in order to yield the best results.

Applying DISC profiling to recruitment

When it comes to hiring the right people at the right time, you need to have a greater understanding of candidates before they end up working in your business, face-to-face with your team and customers. We can offer a comprehensive DISC profile (which considers behavioural traits including: Dominance, Inducement, Submission and Compliance) will provide you with each candidate’s strengths, challenges and motivations.

Candidate sifting

Our sifting process, using robust criteria to sort through CV’s and create a shortlist, will leave you confident that we represent your company to the highest standards of equality and fairness, protecting your business from employment tribunal claims. The size of your company will determine whether the sifting process requires help from technology via HR software such as a recruitment management system or manual sifting is sufficient. Should you prefer to sift through candidates yourself, we’ll provide you with the necessary documentation and HR support.

Interviewing candidates

Finding time to interview candidates can be challenging when you’re running a business. That’s why we can conduct first-round interviews on your behalf, helping you identify the strongest candidates before they reach the final stage.

We will assess candidates against your specific requirements, values and role criteria, providing detailed feedback and recommendations to support your decision-making. This not only saves you valuable time but also brings an objective and consistent approach to the recruitment process.

Following the interviews, you’ll receive a comprehensive summary of each shortlisted candidate, highlighting their skills, experience, strengths and suitability for the role. We can also provide tailored interview guides and suggested questions for any second or final-stage interviews, helping you make the right hiring decision with confidence.

Making a job offer

Once confident you’ve selected the right candidate for your role and the relevant employment checks have been made to protect you and your business, we’ll provide you with a welcome pack for your new team member. The welcome pack will include an offer letter, a written statement of your terms and conditions of employment and if applicable a copy of the employee’s DISC profile.

When someone joins your team

Recruitment doesn’t end when a candidate accepts an offer. There is often a great deal to organise between selecting your preferred candidate and their first day. We can help coordinate employment checks and references, prepare offer letters and contracts, and ensure everything is in place for a smooth and professional onboarding experience.

A thoughtful onboarding process helps new employees feel welcome, understand expectations and settle into their role more quickly, while ensuring your business keeps important records and compliance checks on track.

Helping new employees settle and succeed

A job offer is only the beginning. The first few months can have a significant impact on how confidently someone establishes themselves within your organisation and how successfully they perform in the role.

We can support both managers and employees throughout the probation period by helping to clarify expectations, facilitate feedback discussions and address concerns before they become larger issues. Early conversations often lead to better outcomes for everyone involved.
