As this years sponsor of the Spirit FM Local Hero Awards Charity Fundraiser of the Year Category, we attended the event last night at the Avisford Park Hilton.

To say it was a humbling experience was the understatement of the year. We were sat on a table with just a few of the amazing team from the Pink Pub to Pegasus Bridge who have raised a massive £132,000 to date for the All Call Signs charity.

This relatively new charity has helped locate and save over 50 veterans to date.

All Call Signs was founded in memory of Danny Johnston. He was a Soldier from Bognor, who tragically took his own life after suffering PTSD when he came out of the forces.

The team from the Pink Pub are truly selfless, giving their time to raise funds to help others in Danny’s name. To boot they are also a really nice bunch of people who we had the privilege to spend the evening with. We were blessed to hear stories of their fundraising trip from The Pink Pub in Bognor Regis to Pegasus Bridge in Normandy, France earlier this year from the 3rd – 6th June 2019 when they dressed in Home Guard outfits (think old school Dad’s Army).

The fundraising trip was in aid of two fantastic causes:

All Call Signs (ACS) – The goal of All Call Signs is to use technology and the power of the community to improve the lives of service personnel and veterans. The charity hopes to reduce the number of self-harm incidents and suicides in the military community and create a happier, healthier life for individuals suffering with mental health issues like PTSD, depression and anxiety. Lets together do all we can to save those real heroes who really need support after what they have been through!

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ) – A recognised charity founded in January 2010, creating fundraising events and initiatives for the electronic music industry and beyond to raise money and support children in crisis around the world.

Whilst the Charity is going from strength to strength, they still need to raise funds to help veterans with the hope that in doing so it will manifest in a healthier, happier life for individuals suffering with mental health issues.
