Does your business differentiate between diversity and inclusion?

It should.

But it can be easy to confuse the two.

A diverse workplace means that your business employs people with a range of different characteristics – age, religion, ethnicity, disability, etc.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean that your workplace is also inclusive.

Inclusion is what gives diversity impact.

It applies to everyone in your business, because your business is made up of individuals. They will all feel inclusion at work in a different way to each other. Regardless of someone’s background or circumstances, everyone should feel accepted and valued as part of your business.

However, it can be tricky to see how inclusive your workplace really is. And that’s because everyone experiences it in a different way. To truly get a good idea of how well your business is doing to make its people feel included you need to put in some work.

And while that won’t be easy, it isn’t the most difficult thing to do. You simply need to follow a series of steps to measure how inclusive your business currently is, and to make marked improvements wherever they may be necessary.

Where do you start though?

Of course, I’ve written a new guide to help you.

It’s called ‘An inclusive workplace – what it means, and what you should be doing to create an inclusive business’ and it tells you everything you need to know about workplace inclusion, including the positive changes you can make to give everyone the same experience and opportunities at work.
